Our Physical Education curriculum is designed to give all children the opportunities to develop their love of sport and physical activity. Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. The planning and sequencing of our curriculum enables pupils to build on previous learning and enables children to know more, remember more and do more, so they can perform with increasing confidence and competence in a range of  physical activities. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities help children build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

As a Catholic school, the teachings of the gospels are at the heart of everything we do. This leads our Physical Education curriculum to be rooted in love for one another and teaches our children to participate in sport and physical activities respectfully, demonstrating perseverance, teamwork and fair-play.

We provide opportunities:

  • that enable children to develop and explore physical skills with increasing control and coordination
  • that encourage children to work and play with others in a range of group situations
  • that develop the way children perform skills, and apply rules for different activities
  • that show children how to improve the quality and control of their performance
  • that teach children to recognise and describe how their bodies feel during exercise
  • that develop the children’s enjoyment of physical activity through creativity and imagination
  • that develop an understanding in children of how to succeed in a range of physical activities, and how to evaluate their own success
  • that inspire the children to have a love of learning for physical activity.
  • that create opportunities for children to compete against others showing respect and fair play.
